Questions?

Do I need to carry out any screening before I can start?
Prior to the initial assessment, you will be sent a screening questionnaire for you to complete to ensure suitability to train - there is no charge for this screening. If the questionnaire results in you being deemed as not suitable to start a training plan, then you will be advised on what to do next.

I have not exercised in years, is it worth me getting a personal trainer if I can't do very much?
Yes! Helping all people find a way into exercise is exactly why I have added Personal training to my service. My years of physical rehabilitation experience mean that I can adapt training to meet you exactly where you are and then guide you through the progressions needed to help you to improve your fitness and protect your long term function. My approach is empathic and supportive, I want to help you to move the best you can.

What happens at the Physiotherapy overview assessment?
The Physiotherapy overview allows for screening of any ongoing or chronic joint or soft tissue issues, a functional movement assessment, in depth discussion of goals and training preferences. It enables me to design a plan which works for you, to help reduce the risk of injury and set you up to achieve your goals. If this initial assessment highlights issues which would benefit from formal Physiotherapy intervention, then advice will be given on this. If Physiotherapy is suggested as a more appropriate alternative to personal training, there is no obligation for you to book onward Physiotherapy assessment or treatment with Your Life Physiotherapy unless you wish to do so.

What if I do not have access to a device to use an app on?
I understand that not everyone wants to or is able to use an app for the independent work-outs. Printed programmes can be arranged if this is the case and alternative arrangements made for easy access to support and advice outside the app.

I do not have any exercise equipment at home, can I still train?
Of course, I can bring necessary equipment to the 1:1 sessions and either design independent plans to use no equipment, or advise you on what small or simple pieces of equipment you may benefit from purchasing for yourself. There is no need to turn your home into a gym - plans can be adapted to suit your preferences.

What happens if I need Physiotherapy assessment or treatment for a specific injury or condition during my programme?
If at any point during the training programmes a need for specific Physiotherapy assessment arises, then a separate Physiotherapy appointment would be advised. Although I design plans with Physical health needs taken into account, specific Physiotherapy treatment for a condition or injury is not included as part of the training package. Again there is no obligation for you to book onward Physiotherapy assessment or treatment with Your Life Physiotherapy unless you wish to do so.

Can you give me diet or weight management advice?
In accordance with my training as a Level 3 Personal Trainer, advice and guidance can also be given on healthy diet and weight management if desired. We can track body metrics during our goal setting as well if this is wanted. If you are needing specific diet plans or condition specific dietary advice, then Nutritionist or Dietician support would be advised.
